Barnsley Animal Rescue Charity
Barnsley Animal Rescue Charity rescues and rehomes hundreds of abandoned animals within the South Yorkshire area. Established in 1995, BARC were the first rescue centre in their local area to stop euthanising healthy animals with the aim of providing the support they need to be rehomed. They are now one of the largest rescue charities in Yorkshire.
We've Donated £9250!
The charity’s kennel, cattery and rabbit sanctuary are all run by animal welfare experts to ensure the rescued animals receive the best possible care, and the charity works to restore the animals’ physical and mental health through rehabilitation. BARC pledges to continue to support an animal up to and after it has been rehomed through their Infinity Care programme. This involves assisting potential new owners in choosing the most suitable pet for them according to their lifestyle, and continuing to provide advice to them throughout the animal’s life. BARC’s unwavering dedication means that many animals have been saved not only from trauma and suffering resulting from abandonment, but also from a premature and unnecessary death.
BARC has six charity shops within the Barnsley area that raise money to enable them to continue rescuing animals. They also provide fundraising packs to anyone wishing to set up an event to raise money for the charity, as well as offering volunteering opportunities.
In 2014 Animal Friends donated £10,000 to BARC to help them continue to rescue abandoned animals.
