How to be festive with your pet

This time of year is magical but with so many festivities it can also be a busy couple of months so it can be easy to forget to involve everyone in the celebrations. Our cats and dogs will be there amongst the wrapping paper and baubles but there are ways to be festive with your pet, too.
Buy your pet a Christmas present
We buy our pet’s essentials throughout the year, but why not treat them to a new toy or bed this Christmas? If they have too many, you’ll want to look through their toys and check their condition, as you might find some looking a little worse for wear. If that’s the case, then it’s a perfect excuse to have a few presents under the tree for your pooch or kitty so they can get involved in the unwrapping on the big day.
Buy a personalised pet bauble
A Christmas tree can never have too many baubles… there are lots of different baubles out there and buying a personalised one can be a fantastic way to involve your pet or remembering a cat or dog that’s no longer with you.
Let them play with the boxes
Christmas day is great, but the extra waste that comes with it isn’t ideal. Why not keep the empty boxes from pre-Christmas deliveries, or from the opened presents to keep your pet occupied on the day?
Take some festive snaps
If you use a family snap on your Christmas cards, then include your cat or dog in the festive shoot so they can be featured on the yearly card. A fantastic keepsake to watch your pet grow and an extra sprinkle of cuteness to be displayed on the mantlepieces, windowsills and cardholders of friends and family.
Enjoy those winter walks
The ground is often frosty in the mornings and the evenings are dark and chilly but if you have some time off over the holiday period, why not enjoy a Christmas walk or head out for an adventure with your pooch on Boxing Day?
Make some festive treats
A lot of the food we eat at this time of year isn’t suitable to share with our pets, so if you want to involve your cat or dog in the festive treats then why not make some? With loads of different cookies and biscuits to make and bake, these can make great snacks for your pets but a brilliant gift for friends with pets, too.
