World Animal Day

World Animal Day is a day that aims to raise awareness for all types of animals, big or small, all around the world, near or far. While we know the plight of some animals, no one knows just how many we lose a day, but it’s clear there is a very serious biodiversity crisis.

World Animal Day hopes to increase awareness and education so that we can create a better world for all animals, including cats and dogs.

While we appreciate our pets every day, not all animals are as fortunate.

Here are a few ways to celebrate World Animal Days, as we can all make a difference.

Donate to an animal charity

If you can spare some money, why not donate to an animal or environmental charity? Some charities rely solely on donations, and without the help of the general public wouldn’t be able to better the lives of the animals in their care.

Volunteer for an animal charity

If there’s a local shelter or animal sanctuary near you, why not pop in and see if they need some volunteers? This way, you’ll be able to see the hard work first-hand while helping improve the lives of the animals at the charity.

Have a clear-out

If there’s too much clutter or neglected items in your home, maybe consider having a thorough sort out and donate any sellable goods to your local animal charity shop. This doesn’t cost a thing, and the item that’s collecting dust in the spare room might raise a few pounds for the local animals in need.

Take your dog to work with you

If you have a pet-friendly office or work environment, why not take your dog with you for the day? It will allow you to spend some quality time together, while they enjoy all the attention of your colleagues. This way you know they’re not home alone, waiting for you to come home.

Expand your family

If you’ve been considering adopting a pet and know you can provide a forever home, then why not celebrate World Animal Day with a trip to a local shelter and get the journey started? You’ll be giving the cat or dog a second chance while your adoption fee will go towards helping other animals in need.

These are just a few ways to help the animals that we live amongst and there are loads more you can do to help creatures around the world. Head over to their websites to learn more, view local events or to print out their posters to raise awareness in your local area.
