Animal Friends hits £1.25 million donated to animal charities

Animal Friends Insurance has announced that it has now donated over £1.25 million to over 230 animal welfare charities. Established in 1998, Animal Friends Insurance is a business that is dedicated to providing pet insurance cover whilst supporting animal welfare.

Last year the company challenged themselves to donate £1million by the end of 2012, this was achieved in November. In this time the brand has more than doubled its market share and continues to grow. Since December a further £250,000 has been donated to a variety of charity projects.

Animal Friends runs various initiatives including charitable grants for specific projects, one-off donations, an ‘Employee of the Month’ scheme and a ‘Charity of the Month’ voting application on their Facebook page, Feel Good Park.

Elaine Fairfax, Founder and Managing Director of Animal Friends, said “Providing support for animal charities is a core commitment of the company. Through our charity partnerships we’ve been able to have positive effect on many animals and we will continue to strive to help many more.”

The company has worked with hundreds of charities in the UK and abroad. One recent benefactor includes the Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital. The charity recently received £12,000 from Animal Friends to build a new water fowl pen after Elaine Fairfax rescued a mallard duck and took her to the charity.

In addition to UK charities Animals Friends also supports many international animal conservation projects, one of which is The Born Free Foundation. Virginia McKenna OBE, Hon Dr of Science and Founder and Trustee of The Born Free Foundation commented ‘The generosity and loyalty of Animal Friends Insurance knows no bounds. We have been so fortunate to have met Elaine and Chris Fairfax back in the early days, and have been enormously fortunate to have been one of the animal charities they chose to support. Their latest donation will go towards our sanctuary in Ethiopia. But it is not only with money that they show they care. They attend events; they are personally involved; they are true friends in every way.’
