Animal Friends Insurance has made a £25,000 donation to the RSPCA West Hatch Wildlife Centre to help them reach their target of £150,000 for their new seal pool.
The donation from Animal Friends takes the RSPCA’s total up to £112,000. West Hatch need to build a large deep water pool so seals can be fit and ready for their release into the sea.
Between 2005 and April 2014, the RSPCA’s four wildlife centres admitted over 1,600 seals. The closure of the local facility could potentially result in an extra 30-40 seals a year being looked after by the Society.
“This amazing donation from Animal Friends Insurance will go a long way towards making it possible for us to build a new deep water seal pool at East Winch Wildlife Centre. Their significant contribution will help ensure we will always be there to support the rehabilitation and return to the wild of sick, injured and orphaned seals.” Neil Thomas, Centre Manager, West Hatch Wildlife & Animal Centre.
To date Animal Friends Insurance has donated in excess of £2 million to animal charities worldwide.
Elaine Fairfax, Founder and Managing Director of Animal Friends said “The RSPCA has been tirelessly working for their £150,000 target, and after visiting West Hatch last week I wanted to do something to help. I was thrilled to make a £25,000 donation as I have seen all the hard work they have done for the cause”.
