Animal Friends insurance, one of the UK’s top 10 pet insurance providers*, has launched their £1 million charity challenge online. They aim to give £1 million of their own profits to animal charities by the end of 2012.

Animal Friends was set up by Elaine Fairfax with the aim of using pet insurance to generate funds for animal welfare charities. So far Animal Friends has been able to donate over £410,000 of their own profits amongst some 90 animal charities worldwide.

This has been possible due to the phenomenal growth Animal Friends has enjoyed in recent times. Despite the recession Animal Friends has grown over 700% between July 2008 and December 2010 and now employs over 60 staff in ultra-modern eco-friendly offices in Amesbury, Wiltshire.

To further fuel this extraordinary growth Animal Friends have just launched a ground breaking social media campaign via YouTube and Facebook which includes the world’s first insurance online quote system on Facebook itself allowing people to buy without leaving the Facebook platform.  Just by getting a quote Animal Friends will give 50p towards their £1 million challenge and they will give a further £1 for each Facebook “like”.

Heading Animal Friends’ campaign are plasticine dog and cat characters Cracker and Girlie who are spreading the ‘Feel Good Factor’ about Animal Friends pet insurance and how it helps support animal welfare charities.

Elaine Fairfax said:-

“This is such an exciting opportunity for Animal Friends to do even more for animal charities. Social Media is an ideal vehicle for us to spread the word about what we do and to give customers the chance to get involved too. We’re confident that our initiative will be such a success that we will even surpass our £1 million goal!”

Through the social media sites, Animal Friends are able to engage with customers and fellow Facebook users to educate and interact with them about their common interest; their love of pets and animals. Not only this, but customers can now vote for one of four different animal charities each moth to directly benefit from the charity challenge campaign. Each month the charity with the most number of votes will receive £5000. The second most voted charity gets £2000 and the remaining two charities will receive £1500 each.
