Here at Animal Friends, we believe every animal deserves a loving home and a chance at a happy, healthy life. That's why we're proud to support New Start Cat Rescue, a charity dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens.
Who are New Start Cat Rescue?
Based in Gloucestershire, New Start Cat Rescue operates across a wide area of the West of England, including the Forest of Dean, Cheltenham, and the Cotswolds.
Their mission? To ensure every cat receives the care, protection, and security they deserve, so they can ultimately find a loving forever home.
What do they do?
Their important work includes:
- Rescue and rehabilitation: They provide sanctuary for cats in need, whether due to sickness, maltreatment or abandonment. This includes any needed veterinary care, vaccinations, worming, and microchipping.
- Rehoming: Their dedicated team works tirelessly to find suitable and loving homes for the cats in their care.
- Feral cat neutering: Where possible, they neuter feral cats and return them to their colonies, helping to manage feral populations humanely.
How Animal Friends has helped
In 2021, we donated £5,000 to help New Start Cat Rescue with their running costs, offering vital support during a challenging period following the pandemic.
This year, after finally being in their own property, the charity found out that they had a leak in their roof! With water coming into the property whenever it rained, New Start Cat Rescue couldn’t continue the amazing work they do without fundraising £50,000 to replace the roof.
When we heard about the leak, we knew we had to help. We couldn’t stand the thought of water coming into a place that cares for so many vulnerable cats and kittens, and knowing it threatened their amazing work.
We proudly contributed £10,000 towards their £50,000 goal, helping them fix the leaks and keep their shelter a warm, dry, and safe haven for the nearly 1,000 cats and kittens they rehome each year.
