Lifetime cat insurance

Ongoing cover for vet fees from accidents, illnesses and conditions.

What our Lifetime policies cover

Lifetime policies cover long-term, chronic or recurring conditions, as well as short term illness and injury.

As long as the policy is renewed each year without a break, we will continue to provide cover for conditions such as diabetes or arthritis which require treatment over a long period of time.

There are two types of Lifetime policies, with different levels of cover.

1. Annual policy limit for all claims. You can choose a policy that covers vet bills up to a total amount each year. Our products offer a range of cover from £1,000 to £18,000 per year. Once the limit is reached, you’ll not be able to claim anymore, until the policy renews and the amount becomes available again. Find out more below

2. Annual condition limit. You can choose a policy that covers each different condition (or illness), up to either £1,000, £2,000, £4,000 or £6,000 each year. Once the limit for a condition is reached you’ll not be able to claim for that condition, until the policy renews and the amount becomes available for that condition again. However, you can still make a claim for other conditions. Find out more below

Annual policy limit for all claims

We’ll pay vet’s fees up to your chosen annual cover amount in one policy year. This means that you have an annual limit and each payable claim submitted will be deducted from this total.

There is no limit to the number of claims you can submit and you can submit claims until the annual limit has been reached.

Once you reach your annual limit in that policy year, you’ll not be able to make any more claims until you renew your policy and the amount becomes available again. This means that some chronic conditions, like epilepsy, can be covered year after year.

For example...

If you chose an annual limit of £3,000 and your cat was to develop a skin condition and suffered damage to their paw, we would cover the cost of treatment up to £3,000 in one year (subject to any applicable excess or co-payment). When you renew your policy the annual policy limit is reset and you'll be covered up to £3,000 again, should you need it.

Pet insurance premiums increase as your pet gets older, as the chance of your pet becoming ill increases. Excesses apply to all our policies and a co-payment is currently payable on claims if you renew your policy after your cat turns 10 years old.

Annual condition limit

You can choose a cover limit to cover each condition (or illness) your pet may suffer. We’ll pay the vet’s fees for each condition, up to your chosen cover limit.

Once a specific condition has reached the limit chosen, that condition will not be covered until the policy renews and the limits become available again for each condition.

This means that some chronic conditions, like arthritis, can be covered year after year and do not impact on the amount of cover you have left for any other conditions your pet may suffer from in that policy year.

For example...

If you chose a condition limit of £2,000 and your cat was to develop a skin condition and suffered damage to their paw, we would cover the cost of treatment for the skin condition up to £2,000 and also the damage to their paw, up to £2,000 (subject to any applicable excess or co-payment). When you renew your policy the annual condition limit is reset and you'll be covered for up to £2,000 again for each condition should you need it.

Has your cat been to the vet for anything other than routine vaccinations?

If your cat has been unwell or was injured before, this is known as a pre-existing condition. Pre-existing conditions aren't covered by our policies.

We consider a condition to be pre-existing if it was first noticed before your policy start date or within the waiting period, whether your cat needed treatment previously or not.
