The Beast from the East made sure I wasn’t able to make it into work on Friday, but it did mean I was able to spend the day in #TheGreatOutpaws with my two frenetic collies and equally energetic toddler. They weren’t complaining, not that they understand the concept of a three-day weekend…
The dogs weren’t quite sure what to do when I let them out for their morning run on the Friday morning and their precious grass had disappeared!
Marvel is my eldest collie, who turns four this August, while Harley is still a pup at 5 months, so it was their first time experiencing the white stuff! They’re both used to a colder climate as they were born in Anglesey, North Wales, so they didn’t mind getting their paws deep in the snow. Thankfully, it did mean they were digging the snow instead of the garden, so we can thank Storm Emma for something!
Eventually, we lost sight of all of the tennis balls we threw for them so we ended up making snowballs and seeing how good they were at catching a mouthful of snow. Marvel scored an 11/10. A ball is a ball, snow, tennis, football or rugby (he is Welsh, after all)! Harley was could only be rated 5/10 as a few landed on her head instead. In her defence, she’s still learning.
Fetch is a little less interesting now the rain has washed the snow away, but they don’t mind at all. If you have dogs your garden might look a little like mine does now, a little worse for wear! The weather is picking up, though, it’s already a little warmer than it was and my daffodils are flowering. Spring is well and truly on its way.
