Animal Friends Blog
If you live in the South West of England, you’re close enough to drive, or you’re heading down here for a break then we’ve decided to highlight a few dog-friendly events that may peak your interest!
Sometimes it’s hard to find out about some local events and even harder to find out if your dog can go with you, but we should be able to help!
Wildscreen Photo Exhibition
12 October – 8 November
We’ve recently been working with Wildscreen and sponsored the inaugural Animal Friends Photo Story Award. There is currently a whole range of photographs on display as part of a massive outdoor exhibition at College Green in the middle of Bristol and they’ll be there until the beginning of November.
Why not go and have a look while you’re out and about on your dog walk? Enjoy the beautiful animals and striking images and understand their stories.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan
You might have heard about the romantic garden that was lost following the outbreak of the First World War and discovered decades later. The Lost Gardens of Heligan now boasts over 200 acres of thriving gardens and fantastic walks – it’s the perfect day out for those wishing to share a day out with their dog.
It’s not free to get in and you can find their entry prices on their website but there is so much to do and see that it’s worth the fee. They’ve also got some Halloween activities going on, perfect to tire out the kids.
Bodmin and Wenford Railway
27 October – 28 October
Do you, or maybe your children or grandchildren, love steam trains? Would you love to share the experience with your dog? Then why not head to the Bodmin and Wenford Railway where your dogs are allowed onboard their trains!
This weekend tickets are half price and kids go free!
The Donkey Sanctuary
20 October – 31 October
If you’re looking for something to do in the run-up to Halloween then The Donkey Sanctuary might be the place for you!
Kids will love the Trick or Treat Trail, pumpkin carving and Bat Beacon which are running daily with plenty of other things to see and do. And guess what? Dogs are welcome on a lead.
