Animal Friends Donates £5000 to Pukka Ponies

12 Days of Christmas Charity Giveaway 2016: Pukka Ponies

Written by Jessica Mackie | Tuesday, December 13, 2016

On the fourth day of Christmas Animal Friends donated to Pukka Ponies!

Pukka Ponies are a small horse and pony rescue based in Kent. While their main premises are in Maidstone, they also have a second smaller branch in Rainham, and a few additional fields in and around Kent. Pukka Ponies take on around 20-30 horses at any one time, with the aim of not only rescuing but rehabilitating and re-homing where possible.

Pukka Ponies’ main focus is to Rescue, Rehabilitate and Re-home.

Whilst Pukka Ponies have limited space they try to help where possible offering rescue for all equines in need. They are self-funded and therefore rely solely on the donations received and personal income from the charity chair & vice chair to run the rescue.

They have a small but dedicated team of volunteers who all aid in the daily running of the charity. Many equines that end up at Pukka Ponies require rehabilitation, whether this is simple handling or completely restoring the equine’s trust in people. It’s the volunteers that help progress the equines in their care and prepare them for a permanent adoptive home.

They have a variety of horses and ponies that are either ready for immediate re-homing or will be ready for re-homing in the future. Pukka Ponies operate an adoption scheme where if the horse or pony is loaned out on a long-term permanent loan contract, a donation is charged to help towards the care of the other horses still with them.

Our fourth 12 days of Christmas donation is to Pukka Ponies for the exciting amount of:

‘I just want to say thank you so much from the whole team at Pukka Ponies… I think I was a little in shock earlier! We are only a small charity and have never had a donation like this!’ – Sarah Daniell Chairman Pukka Ponies Equine Rescue

As always, we cant thank our policy holders enough for continuing to use Animal Friends, as without you we would not be able to make such amazing donations.
