Formed in early 2010, Feral Cat Welfare’s trustees originally worked as volunteers for the Adel branch of Cats Protection up until its closure, whereby this dedicated group decided to form their own charity to help the feral cat colonies of the Leeds area.
Feral Cat Welfare supports stray cats – often whole colonies – by providing food, veterinary care and running vital neutering programmes to prevent their numbers from increasing, thus reducing their suffering as a whole. In addition to helping out and rehoming whole colonies, the charity will provide long-term care for older feral cats, that are difficult to rehome. The trustees of the charity had seen first-hand the struggle feral and timid strays face from working with such cats at the Cats Protection. So when setting up a charity they wanted to specifically help strays.
